Florida Tech’s latest class of graduates, including many who earned their degrees 100% online, will receive their diplomas during Fall 2015 Commencement ceremonies Dec. 12 on the Melbourne campus. One of those online students will be Jody Thrash of Birmingham, Ala., whose three young daughters will see their mom receive her MBA in Project Management. Jody wants her children to “see the campus and feel the excitement on graduation day and know that I am a part of that.” Like Jody, many Florida Tech graduates want to share their special moment of accomplishment with family and friends:
Vincent Osborne, another member of the Class of 2015, said the Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems he earned online was worth all of the effort and sacrifice. “Don’t stop!” he advised current Florida Tech students. “Don’t ever second-guess if you’re doing the right thing.” Many alumni have similar words of encouragement for future grads:
Ed Herd, who is graduating with a BA in Applied Psychology, said his time as an online student at Florida Tech has prepared him for grad school. “Without the great experience I had at FIT [Florida Institute of Technology], I would have never thought to take my education any further,” said the U.S. Marine Corps veteran, who lives in Pennsylvania. “For graduate school, the fact that I went to FIT … made a huge difference.” For students like Ed, graduation from Florida Tech is a major step toward advancing their careers and lives:
The commencement ceremony for candidates for associate’s and bachelor’s degrees begins at 9:30 a.m. at Florida Tech’s Charles and Ruth Clemente Center and will be followed by the ceremony for master’s and doctoral candidates at 2 p.m. Both events can be streamed live at http://media.fit.edu/commencement.php.
