CIS 4498 Information Resource Management


Course Description

A capstone course opens to seniors only, emphasizing the integration of information and environmental systems to support broad strategic planning decisions. The course will involve lectures, case studies, and application of previous course work to support strategic decision making.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to

  • Discuss the use of information systems in strategy and planning, technology assessment, application portfolio management, operational activities, and control
  • Define the concepts utilized in the management of information assets, the management of personnel, long- and short-range planning, and management of expectations
  • Describe the integration of telecommunications and information systems management into information technology management as found in the industry
  • Summarize the structural changes resulting in companies and organizations as a result of new technology
  • Apply the concepts of decision support systems to enhance decision making at the strategic level through the use of the tools learned in CIS3315 by creating an executive information system
