Melbourne, FL— Florida Institute of Technology has been recognized as a top tier National University by U.S. News & World Report for the third straight year. In the just-released 2013 edition, the university was again named a Tier 1 Best National University. U.S. News assesses more than 1,500 institutions in its annual study. Florida Tech was again listed as the second-highest ranked private National University in Florida, behind only the University of Miami. Lesser rankings in the report include Tier 2 and Unranked Schools.
The 54-year-old Melbourne-based Florida Tech is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Doctoral Research Intensive university, which distinguishes it from institutions that only offer degrees at the bachelor’s or master’s level.
Florida Tech President and Chief Executive Officer Anthony J. Catanese said the university’s “high tech with a human touch” approach continues to resonate with students. "Outstanding faculty, small class sizes and unparalleled student research opportunities make Florida Tech special,” said Catanese. “We’re excited that the world is learning more and more about Florida Tech.”
Also in the U.S. News rankings, Florida Tech was recognized as a top university for fostering international student experiences. And, the university was named among the nation’s “A-Plus Schools for B Students.”
This fall, Florida Tech has already accumulated a number of other honors. Forbes again listed the university among America’s Top Colleges in its recently published 2012 rankings, and Bloomberg Businessweek lauded Florida Tech as “Best College for Return on Investment in Florida.” Additionally, PayScale.com ranks Florida Tech graduates’ mid-career median salaries in first place among Florida’s universities, and lists Florida Tech among the top 20 universities in the South—both public and private.
